After sailing south of the Oregon coastline, he glum around and headed north, looking for a guard place for his ship. He saw a river and precious to go there, but the ocean was to rough. So he unbroken going north and strand a safe hold dear which is at present cognize as Greys Harbor. After the sea became calm Grey started back south to look for the river again. This time he sent a little boat to find a safe hold at the mouth of the river. It showed the way for the Columbia.
